What are your strategies for using driver and passenger referrals to bring in more revenue? Do you use word of mouth? Social media? Business cards? A blog? Has this been a lucrative way to pad earnings as a Lyft driver and how much time do you spend referring each week?

I tried business cards for referring passengers and potential drivers. I spent about $100 printing out 1000 business cards to hand out with my promo code on it. After passing all of them out I found that conversion rate to be really low. I think I had 6 new passengers sign up and 1 driver, it didn't feel like it was worth my time. I also made a blog and published a bunch of Lyft info on there, this has led to more sign ups, but still hard to get traction. If I could make the blog more popular I think I could do well, but nothing much so far. I've spent a decent amount of time on referrals without a ton of pay out. Guess I just haven't found the right strategy.

I've never referred a driver. But I've only been driving for 3 weeks. Sounds like a good idea.

Has anyone gotten the LA $5,000 bonus or San Diego $2,000 sign up bonus? A while ago Lyft was offering a $5,000 referral bonuses if drivers completed 1,000 rides in their first 90 days. They've got a similar promotion going in San Diego right now, you can get $2,000 after 500 rides in 60 days. My question is, has anyone actually gotten paid for this? It seems like it would be near impossible to complete that many rides in such a short time period... Normally Lyft's sign up bonuses come with reasonable requirements, but it seems like they're trying to lure in drivers with a huge cash incentive that isn't actually attainable.

Lately, sign up bonuses are looking pretty unattainable. In LA and Orange County you have to give 500 rides in 60 days to get your sign up bonus. The bonus is $2,000 I think, so it sounds good. But anyone who's driven before knows how difficult it is to give that many rides in 60 days.
